Hoima Social Communications Week 2023 commence with school debates in different vicariates

The long awaited Social Communications Week 2023 activities kicked off on 11th October 2023 early morning with the official launch of the Schools’ Debate Activity in Kagadi Vicariate.


We acknowledge with great love the generosity and personal involvement of Msgr. Peter Kaberenge Akiiki, Parish Priest and Episcopal Vicar Kagadi who hosted, and was supreme presiding officer of this event.
Hoima Catholic Diocese Social Communications Department in collaboration with stakeholders organised the Schools’ Debate activity on the theme: “Charity begins at home” as a way of involving the children in the Holy father’s 57th Communications Day Celebrations’ theme and message: “Speaking with the Heart; the truth in love” (Eph. 4, 15).


In this activity aimed at bringing out this aspect: Early childhood education has roots in the family and later has a bearing on the child’s heart to heart communication with fellows. Communication is from the Latin Communicare, “to share. You can’t give what you don’t have!

Majestic schools that have contributed and participated in this exercise from Kagadi Vicariate are;
A) Primary section

  1. St. Charles Kagadi
  2. Kagadi Model PS
  3. Quality Education Centre
  4. Stella Maris Kigangaizi
  5. Mambugu Road PS
  6. Muhorro BCS Secondary section
  7. Mother Mary High School
  8. St. Charles Lwanga Vocational SS
  9. St. Michael SS Nyankoma.

On 12th October Masindi and Hoima Vicariates debate before finals next week on 16th & 17th October at St. Nicholas Hall.

We acknowledge the synergy of the Diocesan Education Department, the good will of School heads and proprietors, cooperation of the Clergy, Social Communications staff and all God’s people.

Other activities of the week include, Marian Carols at St. Nicholas Hall, Bujumbura on 15th October @2pm. Entrance free.

Media Summit at St. Francisco Hall on 18th October, Hoima Referral Hospital Visit on 19th October, Prison’s Visit, Medical Camp and Blood Donation at Radio Maria Kiryatete on 20th October and Charity Walk from Radio Maria Station to Villa Maria (new site) on 21st October. Registration of participants at 100k, 50k & 15k is ongoing at reception.

Climax is Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Bujumbura Cathedral. Bishop will lead at 9:00 O’clock Mass and Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, Minister ICT and National Guidance is Chief Guest.
All proceeds will go to the completion of Studios and enhancing Secretarial burau.
