HOIDERA Launches the Bereavement Fund to support members in times of bereavement

The HOIDERA executive committee decided to form a bereavement fund in a meeting held on 12th July 2023 in order to support members when they have lost close relatives.

The fund is governed by a committee called ‘bereavement fund committee’ appointed by chairperson and approved by the Chaplain for the first term. The committee is composed of Mr. Edward Katongole, Ms. Gorret Tumusiime, Mr. Emmanuel S Muhumuza, Ms. Mildred Bahemuka, Mr. Stephen Kiggundu and Ms. Imelda Kaijja.

This bereavement fund shall be open to every HOIDERA member. Active members shall subscribe monthly or annually to the fund. Each youth below 30 years will contribute 10,000 per month and other adults will contribute at least 25,000 per month to the fund.

The fund also welcomes any other donations. However the youth that is somehow financially stable is encouraged to contribute above 10,000

In the event of loss for a Non -member of bereavement fund or their relatives, members will reach out to them as individuals

The fund will contribute

  • In the event of death of a member, spouse and child UGX 500,000/=
  • In the event of a members parent (father/ Mother) 400,000/=
  • In the event of a member falling sick with a terminal illness or goes through a serious surgery 600,000/=

In the interim, Mildred Bahemuka is the Treasurer and 0753814958 has been registered and shared in the names of Mildred Bahemuka specifically for HOIDERA Bereavement Fund.

There is a minimum contribution of 10,000/= that all members of Bereavement Fund are obliged to pay at a very loss of a qualifying one.

The funds will be banked on a separate account from that of HOIDERA main bank account.

Other considerations:

A Separate account shall be opened up for this cause separate from the Main HOIDERA account.

A Separate platform will be formed for members of the bereavement fund.

Death announcements shall be made on any of the HOIDERA platforms.
