HOIDERA Foot Pilgrims walk from Hoima House to Uganda’s Martyrs Shrine at Namugongo

Christian Pilgrims from Hoima Diocese External Residents Association (HOIDERA) across areas of Kampala, Mukono and wakiso started their journey from Hoima House at 7:00pm to Namugongo Catholic Shrine ahead of the commemoration of the Uganda Martyrs on 3rd June 2023.

They moved the journey of faith as they praise and worship with different prayer intentions to be presented to God through the intercession of the Uganda Martyrs.

Before starting off on their journey, the foot Pilgrims were taken through a spiritual retreat to prepare them and to make them understand the significance of the journey to Namugongo and other designated important places by Rev. Fr. Aiden Kasujja Amooti HOIDERA Chaplain

Some Pilgrims said that they used their Pilgrimage, to pray for peace, success in their exams, unity and love in their families.

Others disclosed that they used the moments of Pilgrimage to Namugongo to pray for the gift of healing, renewal and deliverance from god who is the provider of all things to his children.

The Diocese of Jinja animated this year’s liturgy on 3 June Martyrs’ Day every year, Ugandan Dioceses take turns to animate the liturgy at Namugongo shrine. The diocese of jinja in Eastern Uganda was chosen to animate the celebrations guided by the theme “Lord increase our faith” (Luke 17:5).
